Besides you get to enjoy the added content of districts and the flagellant, aside new trinkets and quirks. Nothing bad gets activated until you send your team to foray the new areas, so it's fine. I levelled mine full roster mostly to 2 before I ventured into both the CC and COM expansions which is about week 25ish.
